say good morning to the night
The darkness creeps through to every corner of the world, both magical and muggle. The muggles knew nothing of what kind of a war was looming, but they could feel it. The magical creatures of the world feared for their lives, for there had never been a reason to be so afraid. Never had the mere name of a wizard had so much of an effect, causing fear just from hearing the name. To others, it meant the greatest power and respect.
say your last goodbye
At the heart of all of the darkness, a single force claimed full power. Lord Voldemort gathered followers quickly. The Death Eaters met continually, though their identities were kept secret. They lived lives full of lies to cover up their dark duties for their leader. They did every task that he asked of them whether out of admiration or fear of the incredible punishment that they would receive if they failed. Voldemort managed to keep hidden, like a silent killer among the world. How long would it be before he struck?
say nothing if you want to stay alive
Several wizarding families considered themselves neutral in the war. Perhaps they hoped that by not joining a side they would not be affected by the war that slipped under doors and cracks in the walls. They kept to their everyday lives, and some even cut off communications from everyone surrounding them out of fear. Whether they were afraid of being killed by Voldemort or afraid of having to fight against him, they found it better than being targeted.
say you'll fight to the end
A few of the braver wizards and witches put themselves at risk and formed a group to fight back. The Order of the Phoenix was small in number compared to the mass of Death Eaters, but their vision stayed true, and they knew that Voldemort had to be stopped. They met in secret, trying to keep their lives as the silently rebelled against the darkness. Still, it seemed only a matter of time before they would be destroyed and forgotten. Their chances of success seemed slim, but nothing stopped them.
say this is all just a dream
The students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry were not unaffected by the war. Rumored deaths and disappearances in The Daily Prophet struck fear in the students, hoping each day that their families would be safe. While Voldemort and his Death Eaters were seemingly unable to enter the castle, there were other questions and tensions building in the school. It seemed that some students had already set themselves on their own paths, swaying towards the Death Eaters or the Order of the Phoenix. As they attempted to keep up with their normal lives, fear lingered, and darkness threatened to find its own way into Hogwarts.
